During the much-mentioned event “AnimeJapan 2024,” the television network Tokyo MX revealed the second promotional trailer for the anime “Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyūtan” (モブから始まる探索英雄譚), also known in English as “A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero LV” or “Starting a Heroic Tale from a Mob: A Tale of the Exploration Hero LV”. The video announces two new voice actresses joining the main cast. This anime is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television this coming July.
Kaitō began the publication of the light novel series “Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyūtan” on the self-publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in April 2019, where it continues to be serialized to this day. In 2021, Hobby Japan acquired the rights to the work for its publication in print, under its HJ Bunko label, currently counting 8 volumes, with illustrations by Almic. Also in 2021, a manga adaptation began, which is published in the Dokodemo Young Champion magazine of the publisher Akita Shoten, with illustrations by Terio Teri, and has so far 3 compiled volumes available in the market.
Production and Voice Cast
As for the anime adaptation, Tomoki Kobayashi (Utawarerumono, Akame ga KILL!) is directing this project for the studio Gekkō, while Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Black Clover, How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord) oversees the scripting. Shōko Yasuda (My Happy Marriage, Am I Actually the Strongest?) is in charge of character design, and Keiji Inai (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level) is responsible for the musical composition.
Regarding the voice casting, we know it is headed by Yūya Hozumi as Kaito Takagi, and Kana Hanazawa as Sylph. Joining them are the two most recent additions, Azumi Waki as Haruka Katsuragi and Mayu Sagara as Luceria.
Synopsis
The story of “Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyūtan” follows Kaito Takagi, a high school student whose everyday life is that of a “mob,” that is, an ordinary character. Kaito spends his days hunting slimes in dungeons to earn extra money and secretly admires his childhood friend, the popular girl at school. The story shows how Kaito, despite being a “mob,” gradually transforms into an emerging hero, discovering his own abilities and the true value of friendship. The plot explores themes of self-discovery and personal growth, highlighting the importance of overcoming obstacles and trusting oneself and others.
Throughout “Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyūtan,” Kaito and his allies face formidable enemies and uncover hidden secrets of the world they inhabit. The series combines elements of action, adventure, and fantasy, creating a captivating tale of a “mob” transforming into a recognized hero. Each challenge overcome is a demonstration that even ordinary characters can achieve greatness if they dare to dream and fight for their goals.
