Last Wednesday, the X (Twitter) account of the “Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte” light novel series announced the production of an animated TV series. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional trailer and the opening of a website for this adaptation of Mikito Chinen‘s mystery and murder work.
Mikito Chinen writes this light novel titled “Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte“, which stars a genius doctor working in a general hospital. The work is published in Japan by Shinchosha under its Shincho Bunko nex imprint since September 2014 and has so far 14 volumes with illustrations by Noizi Ito. The next two volumes, The Organ Organizer and Terror at Absolute Zero, would go on sale today, April 5.
The novel has also been adapted into manga by Hiroki Ohara and was serialized in Shinchosha‘s Comic @ Bunch magazine, being compiled into 4 volumes after its conclusion.
Synopsis
“Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte” is set in the vibrant and often mysterious city of Tokyo, where detective Ameku Takao delves into the depths of urban darkness to solve crimes that defy comprehension. In this metropolis, where modern meets traditional, Ameku faces a series of cases ranging from the macabre murder of a famous actress in a traditional theater to the disappearance of a group of students in a historic district shrouded in urban legends. Each case not only tests his intellect but also leads him to explore the darkest corners of the city, revealing secrets that many would prefer to keep hidden.
As the series progresses, viewers witness the complexity of the cases Ameku faces. One of the most notable is the investigation of a series of murders linked to an ancient family curse, which leads him to delve into Japanese traditions and superstitions. Another memorable case is that of a serial killer lurking in the underground labyrinths of the Tokyo subway, creating an atmosphere of terror and suspense that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The victims of these crimes are often ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances, adding a layer of empathy and realism to the plot.
The element of horror in “Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte” is intensified by the unsettling atmosphere that permeates the series. Ameku‘s ability to unravel the darkest mysteries leads him to confront not only ruthless criminals but also his own inner demons. The series plays with the psychology of fear, exploring how terror can manifest both in the supernatural and in the everyday. Through his investigations, Ameku discovers that true horror often lies in human nature and the secrets hidden deep within society. This exploration of the dark side of humanity and the city adds emotional depth and a sense of unease that lingers long after each case has been solved.
It is logically too early to know about dates or a possible release window, as the project would still be in production, but I think it is enough to review its plot to have sufficient reasons not to lose sight of this title. “Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte” promises to be a gripping and unsettling proposal. And now it’s your turn, reader, to go through the comments and leave your opinion about this premise. And you know, we will be reading! 😉
