Arifureta Season 3 Arrives on October 14!

September 1, 2024

The staff behind the anime Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou, better known as Arifureta, recently announced that the third season of this adaptation of Ryo Shirakome‘s isekai will begin airing on Japanese television on October 14. Additionally, this new season of the series will feature a total of 16 episodes. Crunchyroll announced earlier in July that it would exclusively offer the simultaneous broadcast of Arifureta 3 worldwide, which from our humble point of view is tremendous news!

This popular isekai has so far had two television seasons and three original episodes. The first season aired on Japanese television between July and October 2019, ending with a total of 13 episodes. These were followed by the release of two original episodes in December 2019 and February 2020. The animated production of this series was handled by studio White Fox (Rekara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Akame ga Kill!) under the direction of Kinji Yoshimoto (Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai, Sin Nanatsu no Taizai, Genshiken 2). Between January and March 2022, a second season aired on Japanese television that brought some changes to the artistic and technical team. Studio White Fox made way for Studio Mother, which collaborated with studio Asread in this next season.

Ryo Shirakome continues to work on this isekai since November 2013, although since June 2015, the Overlap publisher has been publishing this light novel on paper, of which there are already 13 volumes in Japan. In addition to the novel, the franchise has several manga adaptations by different authors: the main manga, titled Arifureta Nichijou de Sekai Saikyou, which is published in the Comic Gardo magazine of the same Japanese publisher with artwork by Roga; the spin-off manga Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou Zero, in the same magazine and by Ataru Kamichi.

Synopsis

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest” is a series that follows the story of Hajime Nagumo, a 17-year-old student and average otaku, whose life changes drastically when he and his classmates are summoned to a fantasy world. Originally endowed with grand powers, Hajime‘s classmates are treated as heroes destined to save humanity. However, Hajime faces the lowest challenge, as he only receives mediocre abilities compared to his peers. His journey takes an even more dramatic turn when he is betrayed by one of his companions and falls into an abyss during a dungeon exploration, leading him to struggle to survive and adapt in a hostile environment.

After surviving deadly challenges and meeting Yue, a vampire who has also been imprisoned, Hajime begins to strengthen himself, developing powerful abilities and creating weapons with advanced technology. This initial alliance expands as other characters join them, including Shea, a demi-human bunny, and Tio, a perverted dragon. Together, the group embarks on a journey through various dungeons and faces countless dangers, with the goal of finding a way back home for Hajime, as he transforms from being the weakest to one of the most powerful beings in the world.

In the second season, the plot intensifies as Hajime and his growing group of allies continue their adventure, facing even more formidable enemies and discovering new regions of the vast world in which they are trapped. Throughout the series, themes of betrayal, personal growth, and the search for a purpose are explored, along with the formation of deep bonds between characters who come from dramatically different circumstances. The relationship between Hajime and his companions, which touches on elements of a harem but with deeper team dynamics, plays a crucial role in the story development.

I think it’s enough to simply mention “Arifureta” for our expectations to be sky-high, right? There’s not much more to say, just invite you to drop by the comments to leave us your opinion on the news and the franchise, because, you know, we’ll be reading! 😉
