Although there has been much talk about the title since it was known as Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red, the actual reveal of Assassin’s Creed Shadows only happened a few days ago with the unveiling of its first trailer. Far from merely satisfying players with cinematic footage, it came with a ton of details about the return of Ubisoft’s flagship franchise. The Canadian company (the Canadian branch of Ubisoft, Ubisoft Quebec) took the opportunity to also disclose some crucial details about the conditions under which it will be launched. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will transform players into a legendary samurai and an Assassin shinobi in feudal Japan, available from November 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Ubisoft+, Amazon Luna, macOS, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store. The title will be accessible from November 12 through its premium editions.
In this installment, the stories of Naoe, an expert Assassin shinobi from the province of Iga, and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai from historical legends, will intertwine. Set against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this unusual duo will discover their common destiny at the dawn of a new era for Japan. With two protagonists, players must choose between the shinobi and samurai styles, which are complementary and offer freedom to tackle missions as each will have their own progression attributes, stats, skills, and gear.

Thus, players will embark on an open-world adventure set in feudal Japan (specifically during the 16th century), where citadels, bustling ports, tranquil shrines, and bucolic landscapes will experience all seasons, unpredictable weather changes, and a reactive environment. The country is on the path to a brutal unification process, and discontent grows as new alliances form and corrupt foreign influences infiltrate the nation. This world will invite meticulous study, allowing players to develop a network of spies to see and hear everything happening in each location, discovering new areas and hunting various targets.
Regarding who is in charge of this installment, as mentioned earlier, it is Ubisoft Quebec, who are also responsible for other major Ubisoft open-world games such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Immortals: Phoenix Rising, so this new installment of the saga is in very good hands, for sure! We will have to see now how the game integrates into Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the hub that will gather future titles of the saga.
