Indeed, on the official site for the upcoming original anime by Yostar Pictures and Pony Canyon, “Sorairo Utility,” they have revealed a new promotional video and allowed us to meet more members of the production team of this promising project. You remember where this idea came from, right? “Sorairo Utility” is based on the homonymous OVA released in December 2021, obviously from the same production duo. This time, this new project does not yet have a confirmed date, but you can enjoy the trailer right here:
“The golf anime that I’ve said time and time again that I wanted to make, I’m really being allowed to make it. I’m very happy”
These were the words of Kengo Saitou, director of the aforementioned OVA that was released in 2021. This project holds a special place in the memory of Yostar Pictures studios, founded in January 2020, as it was one of their first animations. Now, about this new anime, here are some details about the talented team working behind the screen:
Voice Cast
- Miyu Takagi as Minami.
- Yurina Amami as Haruka.
- Ayasa Gotou as Ayaka.
Production Team
- Kengo Saitou (Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin!, Blue: Line Step Brush, SSSS.Gridman) is in charge of directing the anime at Yostar Pictures studios, and also returns to take care of character design and animation direction.
- Risa Mizuno (Arknights: Reimei Zensou, Arknights: Touin Kiro), Yuu Satou (Tonikaku Kawaii, Little Witch Academia), and Aya Satsuki (Ojou to Banken-kun, Kawaisugi Crisis) are in charge of writing and supervising the scripts, with the support of Kota Nozomi (Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de, Choppiri Toshiue demo Kanojo ni Shite Kuremasu ka?, Musume ja Nakute Mama ga Suki nano!?), who held the same position in the production of the OVA.
- Akira Amemiya (Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, Kill la Kill, Ninja Slayer From Animation) was in charge of the storyboards in the special.
Synopsis
“Sorairo Utility” is an anime that revolves around the charming world of women’s golf. The story follows the lives of three high school students: Komaki Akebi, Minami Iwai, and Haruka Misono, who are united by their shared passion for this sport. Despite having diverse personalities and backgrounds, these young golfers find in the golf course a place of escape, camaraderie, and self-discovery.
The plot focuses on their individual and collective journey in the world of golf. Komaki, the protagonist, is an enthusiastic novice who unexpectedly discovers her love for golf and dedicates herself to improving her skills with contagious determination. On the other hand, Minami is a more experienced player who becomes a sort of mentor to Komaki, guiding her through the ups and downs of learning the sport. Haruka, meanwhile, is a talented but reserved golfer who finds in her new friends a reason to open up and share her passion.
As they progress in their practice and competitions, the three girls experience the challenges and triumphs that golf entails. The series explores themes such as friendship, personal growth, and the importance of following one’s dreams, all set against the picturesque and peaceful backdrop of golf courses. “Sorairo Utility” promises to be a touching and motivating story about how sports can bring people together and help them grow both personally and professionally.
Wanna Play Golf?
Personally, I have never played golf, and perhaps until not so long ago, if someone had told me that the entire plot of an OVA, movie, or series could be based on this particular sport, I would have probably doubted whether to watch it or not… Currently, the reality is that, considering all this information, I would not miss the premiere of “Sorairo Utility” for anything, whenever it happens.
