“BEASTARS” Returns in December!

August 15, 2024

On the official website for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki, “BEASTARS,” a new promotional image for the final season of the project was revealed. The press release confirmed that the first part will premiere in December 2024 on Netflix, but the second part does not yet have a release date.

This final season will be a direct sequel to the second season, and the visual shows Legoshi standing at an intersection between the Outside World and the Black Market. What are the identities of the new characters who are looking seriously at Legoshi? The visual makes it clear that the last narrative arc is about to begin. The fact that this third season is the last has left fans confused, as the content adapted in the two seasons produced to date is about 99 chapters. With nearly 100 chapters remaining, fans fear everything may be condensed too quickly even though it is a season of more than twenty episodes.

Paru Itagaki began publishing the manga in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine of Akita Shoten publishing house in September 2016 and finished it in October 2020. The first twelve-episode season of the anime adaptation premiered during the Fall-2019 season (October-December), followed by a second twelve-episode season aired during the Winter-2021 season (January-March).

Synopsis

BEASTARS” takes place in a fictional world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, where carnivores and herbivores coexist under constant and latent tension. The protagonist, Legoshi, is a shy and reserved gray wolf who attends Cherryton Academy. Despite his intimidating appearance, Legoshi struggles to suppress his predatory instincts and seeks to socially integrate in an environment where distrust between species is common, especially after the brutal murder of an alpaca student that shakes the already unstable balance of the school.

The plot delves into Legoshi‘s internal dilemmas as he develops complicated feelings towards Haru, a white rabbit. This bond becomes the emotional heart of the series, exploring the complications of a seemingly impossible and socially forbidden love. The relationship between Legoshi and Haru is a microcosm of the broader tensions in their society, questioning the nature of predation and peaceful coexistence between different species.

BEASTARS” not only deals with romance and self-acceptance but also delves into darker themes such as the black market, mafias, and drugs within this animal universe. Through the eyes of Legoshi and other characters, the series explores the prejudices and power struggles within a society divided between carnivores and herbivores, each group with its own stigmas and stereotypes. The series, by blending elements of drama, romance, and thriller, offers a rich narrative that challenges expectations and presents a critical look at issues of discrimination and violence.

So, in the end, we will have to wait, initially until December, and then we’ll see, although it would be assumed that not too much time passes between one part and another, at least that’s what we all hope, right? Now, why not head to the comments and let us know your thoughts on “BEASTARS“? Without a doubt, it is at least a different proposal from the majority, and if you already know it, you certainly have a formed opinion. And you know, we’ll be reading you! 😉
