In its First two days of release on Netflix, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King garnered an impressive 6.4 million views. Following its debut on June 16, the movie quickly rose to the second spot globally for non-English films during the week of June 12 to June 18.

Originally slated for a March 31 release, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King encountered delays due to production challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The film’s screenplay is handled by Tanemura, Ai Orii, and Johnny Onda. Itsuko Takeda is responsible for the character designs, while Minako Seki composed the music. Prior to the movie’s release, character trailers featuring Asta and Yuno were unveiled.

Yuki Tabata is the author and illustrator of Black Clover, which first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2015. With Volume 35 on the horizon, the series has accumulated a total of 34 volumes so far. VIZ Media holds the English license for the series and has published the first 32 volumes, with Volume 33 scheduled for release on November 7.

As of June 2023, the Black Clover manga boasts a circulation of over 19 million copies. Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King can currently be enjoyed on Netflix, offering both subtitled and English dubbed versions. Additionally, the film premiered in theaters throughout Japan on June 16, 2023.
