August 14, 2024

The announcement was made public on the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga “Blue Exorcist” (“Ao no Exorcist”): the release of a new promotional video for the fourth season of the project, named “Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga”. Remember that, according to the project’s schedule, a fifth season will premiere right after that, between January and March of 2025, which would be the winter season in Japan, and will be named “Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga”, although everyone is already calling it “the second part of the fourth season”. There’s still a debate open about what it will officially be called in Japan, but everything points to an emphasis that, whatever its name, it will officially be the fifth season, and everything else will become secondary.

Speaking of the manga, Kazue Kato started its publication in Shueisha’s Jump SQ magazine in April 2009. The work inspired an anime adaptation of twenty-five episodes produced by A-1 Pictures under the direction of Tensai Okamura and scripts written by Ryouta Yamaguchi, premiered in April 2011. A second season titled “Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga” premiered in January 2017, followed by “Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga” in January 2024.

Synopsis

Blue Exorcist” unfolds in a world where two parallel dimensions exist: Assiah, the material world where humans live, and Gehenna, the world of demons ruled by Satan. Originally, these two worlds were completely separated, with no possibility of interaction. However, demons can cross into Assiah by possessing living beings, although they generally remain hidden from human sight, except to those who have had previous contact with them.

The story follows Rin Okumura and his twin brother Yukio, who were raised by the exorcist Shiro Fujimoto. Rin‘s life changes dramatically when he discovers that he and Yukio are the sons of Satan. After Shiro‘s death, trying to protect him, Rin decides to extract the Kurikara sword, which represses his demonic powers. By doing so, Rin acquires demonic traits and the ability to generate blue flames that destroy almost everything they touch. Driven by the desire to avenge his protector’s death and defeat his own father, Rin decides to become an exorcist.

To achieve his goal, Rin enrolls in the True Cross Academy, a specialized school for training exorcists, which turns out to be the Japanese branch of the Order of the True Cross, an international secret organization that protects Assiah from the demons of Gehenna. In an unexpected twist, Rin discovers that Yukio is already an experienced exorcist and one of his instructors at the academy. Throughout his training, Rin forges friendships with other students, who become key allies in his fight against demonic forces.

In summary, I think we are in a position to assert that we have “Blue Exorcist” for a while, right? Obviously, these are good, excellent news for all of us! And now, how about you take a spin through the comments and let us know your thoughts on this news? You know, we’ll be reading! 🙂
