The official Twitter account representing Kadokawa’s Heart magazine revealed on Wednesday that manga artist Nami Sano died of cancer on August 5. Her family held a funeral on August 7 and 8 to commemorate her life. Nami Sano was 36 years old.
The announcement revealed that Sano’s battle with cancer was short-lived, as she was diagnosed just a month before her death. Despite her health struggles, she was actively engaged in planning a new manga. A glimpse of her final thoughts was shared through a section of her last letter, in which she wrote: “This journey has been a pleasant one. I now sail to a freer world. Farewell.”
Sano marked her entry into the manga world with her first series, “Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto.” The series debuted in Heart Magazine in 2011 and concluded in December 2015. Published by Seven Seas Entertainment in North America, the fourth and final volume of the manga was released in July 2016. The popularity of the manga led to the creation of an anime adaptation, which premiered in April 2016.

In July 2017, Sano Hartay introduced the manga “Miggy and Dali”, which ends in November 2021. The end of the series was marked by the release of the seventh and final edition in December 2021. The manga, which was inspired by a television anime, will debut in October.
