Through the official X account of the anime Murder Mystery of the Dead, it has been announced that its release is scheduled for this upcoming 13th November on Japanese television. Additionally, a new promotional visual and a new trailer have been shared, revealing part of the technical and artistic team currently working on this project.
Tomohiro Ishii is directing this project for ABC Animation, with scripts by Teren Mikami and composition by Giggle Akiguchi. Hideki Morikawa and Guggle Akiguchi are credited as the original creators.
Regarding the voice cast, the members revealed so far are as follows:
- Moe Kahara as Mikoto Amano.
- Lynn as Ranna Kuze.
- Kiyono Yasuno as Yu Kodama.
- Maki Kawase as Fumika Shinohara.
- Tsubaki Makino as Riri Aramaki.
- Hikaru Tohno as Murumuru.
- Madoka Asahina as Rumina.
This new anime is based on a mystery board game developed by Cosaic and Group SNE, released in April 2021. In this game, players become one of the characters and immerse themselves in mysteries like murder cases. Additionally, it is a cooperative title, where players focus on investigating the case.
Synopsis
In Murder Mystery of the Dead, the story is set in a world devastated by a zombie pandemic, where society has collapsed, and survival has become the priority. Mikoto Amano, the protagonist, wakes up with no memory of her recent past, in an unfamiliar and isolated place. Shortly after, she is taken in by a group of six girls who are also trapped in this environment. The other girls are Ranna, Lili, Yuu, Fumika, Murumuru, and Rumina. They all find refuge in the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, a skyscraper that has been sealed off due to the crisis, becoming a safe place, though filled with uncertainty. In this closed space, they try to rebuild their lives, facing the constant threat of zombies and the tension of living in such a precarious environment.
The peace they have managed to establish is abruptly disrupted when an unexpected event occurs: a man who had been rescued along with Mikoto is brutally murdered. The news of the murder unleashes an atmosphere of fear and distrust among the girls, as it becomes clear that the killer is among them. Each one begins to question the true identity of their companions and the reasons that brought them there. Additionally, the possibility that any of them could be the next victim increases the tension, and the search for answers becomes a race against time to prevent the situation from worsening.
While they try to uncover the truth behind the murder, the girls face the secrets each of them hides and the mysteries of the place where they are trapped. The Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, with its labyrinthine structure and isolation, becomes a setting where every corner could hide a clue or a threat. As the girls strengthen their bonds of friendship, they also have to deal with mutual distrust, making cooperation to solve the mystery more difficult. The series presents a constant dilemma between collaborating to survive and the paranoia that arises from the possibility that one of them is the culprit, in an environment that is, in itself, a deadly puzzle.
