As we all very well know, NieR:Automata is a futuristic action RPG video game released in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Windows, and on Xbox One in 2018, developed by Platinum Games and distributed by Square Enix. The story behind its universe, the plot, the unique charisma of its characters, and its gameplay mechanics convinced both players and critics, reaching sales of over 4 million copies in May 2019. Takahisa Taura and Isao Negishi were the designers of the video game, with Yokō Tarō as the creative and director of the project, as he was for the first NieR (2010).
Synopsis
The series “NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a” is based on the popular video game “NieR:Automata” mentioned above and follows the story of a dystopian future where Earth has been invaded by mechanical beings from another world. Humanity has been forced to take refuge on the Moon and, in its struggle to reclaim its planet, creates a unit of androids called YoRHa. The plot centers on two main characters: 2B and 9S, both members of YoRHa. 2B is a cold and calculating combat android, while 9S is a more emotional and curious explorer android. Together, they undertake missions to combat the mechanical invaders and uncover the truth behind their origin and the fate of humanity.
As they progress in their mission, 2B and 9S encounter various characters and situations that test their loyalty and beliefs. They face the harsh reality that androids and mechanical beings might not be as different as they believed, and that the true intentions of their human creators might be more complex and darker than they imagined. The series explores themes such as identity, consciousness, and morality, through the interactions and conflicts between the characters.
The story unfolds in a post-apocalyptic world full of ruins and remnants of human civilization, adding a melancholic and reflective atmosphere to the narrative. Throughout the 12 episodes, secrets and plot twists are revealed that keep the viewer engaged, culminating in a conclusion that questions the nature of existence and the true purpose of the war between androids and mechanical beings. The series “NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a” is an adaptation that retains the essence of the original video game, while offering a new perspective and depth to its rich story and characters.
Now, it goes without saying that we have more than enough reasons to eagerly await this return, but just in case it wasn’t clear enough, we invite you to leave your opinion on the series “NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a“, or even on the game it originated from, if you are a fan of the franchise (we obviously are).
