On April 9th, the anime “Oblivion Battery,” based on the eponymous work by Eko Mikawa, will premiere on Japanese television and through Crunchyroll. This has been announced by the project’s social media accounts, which have already shown us two very interesting promotional videos just a few days ago.
The first video features the opening theme “Lilac,” performed by the group Mrs. GREEN APPLE.
The second video presents the closing theme “Wasurena Uta,” performed by Macaroni Enpitsu.
“Oblivion Battery” (“Bōkyaku Battery” in Japanese) is the debut work of Eko Mikawa. Synopsis
“Oblivion Battery” is a thrilling story of overcoming and passion for baseball that follows the lives of two talented young men, Haruka Kiyomine and Kei Kaname. Haruka, known for his exceptional skill as a pitcher, and Kei, a catcher with unparalleled abilities known as the “General,” were an unbeatable combination during their senior league days. Together, they not only won matches but also crushed the dreams of their rivals, leaving an indelible mark in the world of youth baseball. However, their path to glory takes an unexpected turn when Kei loses his memory, plunging both into uncertainty that tests their friendship and future in the sport.
Upon entering Kotesashi High School, an institution with no renown in the baseball world, Haruka and Kei find themselves in a completely new and challenging environment. The school, lacking a competitive baseball team, becomes the stage for both young men to rediscover their love for the game and seek to reignite the spark that once made them great. It is here that they reunite with former rivals, talented players who abandoned baseball after facing the formidable duo in middle school. This fortuitous encounter rekindles their desire to compete, to prove that their talent remains intact despite the obstacles life has placed in their path.
The plot of “Oblivion Battery” revolves around the formation of a new baseball club at Kotesashi High School, led by Haruka and Kei. Together, they recruit their former adversaries and other students with potential, forming a diverse team united by the same dream: to succeed in baseball. Through rigorous training, intense games, and moments of camaraderie, these young men learn the value of perseverance, friendship, and redemption. The story becomes an inspiring journey of self-discovery, where each character faces their own internal demons and struggles to overcome them, seeking not only victory on the field but also personal fulfillment and the pride of representing their school in the sport they love.
