The news was recently announced by Aniplex and Kadokawa: a new animated project has been announced, none other than the anime adaptation of Matsuri Isora‘s fantasy light novel series, “Secrets of the Silent Witch“. Unfortunately, other than the announcement itself, only a promotional image has been revealed.
Moreover, what has been confirmed is the first voice that will lead the series’ cast, placing Saya Aizawa in the protagonist role of Monica Everett. Aizawa is known for her roles as Norn Greyrat (Muchoku Tensei), Yozuki Tachibana (Taishou Otome Otogibanashi), and Kisara (Engage Kiss), among others.
“Secrets of the Silent Witch” is a fantasy light novel series created by Matsuri Isora, with illustrations by Nanna Fujimi. It began publication in 2020 on the web platform Syosetu, concluding with a total of 211 chapters and 18 extras. Subsequently, Fujimi Shobō released the work in physical format, and to date, it comprises seven compiled volumes. Additionally, it has a manga adaptation titled “Silent Witch – Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto,” drawn by Tana Tobi. This serialization is published in B’s-Log Comic by Enterbrain since 2021 and currently has three compiled volumes.
Synopsis
The light novel series “Secrets of the Silent Witch” centers on Monica Everett, also known as the Silent Witch, the only mage in the world who masters unenchanted magic. This unique ability makes her a heroine who has single-handedly defeated a legendary black dragon. However, behind her facade of power and mystery, Monica is extremely shy; she learned to use magic without speaking to avoid social interaction, leading her to live a peaceful and secluded life.
As the series progresses, more aspects of Monica‘s life are revealed at the Serendia Academy, where she infiltrates on a secret mission to protect the second prince. Throughout her adventures, she faces various magical and political challenges, working alongside the student council and dealing with her fear of social interactions. These challenges not only test her magical abilities but also force her to confront her inner fears and grow personally.
The narrative also delves into mysteries and supernatural events occurring around the academy, such as the disappearance of food, the appearance of ghostly fireballs, and the emergence of a lost girl. With the help of her familiar, Nero, who is obsessed with mystery novels, Monica uses her unenchanted magic to solve these puzzles, protect her peers, and uncover hidden truths that threaten everyone’s safety at the academy.
