Just a few days ago, the broadcast of the anime based on Katarina‘s light novels, “Shangri-La Frontier,” ended with the premiere of episode number 25 of its first season. After that, without giving us almost any time to breathe, the production of a second season was announced, which will premiere on Japanese television in October 2024, consisting of two parts that will be broadcast consecutively.
The first season of “Shangri-La Frontier” began airing on October 1 and ended on March 30 with its twenty-fifth episode. The Crunchyroll platform offered the broadcast of this animated series to the rest of the world, simultaneously with Japanese television.
Toshiyuki Kubooka (Berserk: The Golden Age) directed this anime adaptation for C2C studios. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) was in charge of the script, while Ayumi Kurashima (Devilman Crybaby) was responsible for character design and led the project’s animation.

Katarina began the publication of the light novels “Shangri-La Frontier” in May 2017, through the web Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The work received a manga adaptation by Ryosuke Fuji in July 2020, which continues to be published to this day in Kodansha‘s Weekly Shônen Magazine, already having 16 compiled volumes in the Japanese market.
Synopsis
