Many may already be familiar with the manga written by Kiraku Kishima and illustrated by Ken Ogino, “The Middle-Aged Newbie Adventurer, Trained to the Brink of Death by the Strongest Party, Became Unbeatable” (“Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru“). Recently, the official website for its anime adaptation has released the first promotional video for the project. The press release also confirmed that the premiere is scheduled for the Summer 2024 season (July-September), in addition to revealing more cast members, who join those previously known.

- Mari Eguchi (Plastic Nee-san, Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
- Tomotaka Oosumi (Dagashi Kashi, Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka?, Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun, Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.
Kiraku Kishima and Ken Ogino began publishing the manga through Hobby Japan‘s digital service Comic Fire in November 2019, and it has continued uninterrupted to this day. Kirishima is also recognized for having written other works such as “Tobioriyou to Shiteiru Joshikousei wo Tasuketara Dou Naru no ka?” (“What Happens If You Saved a High School Girl Who was About to Jump Off?“).

The story follows a middle-aged man who, after a life of disappointments and failures, decides to take a radical turn in his existence. Being fired from his job and abandoned by his wife, he finds himself aimless and hopeless. In a desperate attempt to find a new purpose, he stumbles upon a mysterious book that transports him to a fantasy world full of adventures and dangers. With no skills or previous experience, he is forced to start from scratch as a novice adventurer.
His luck changes when he is discovered by the strongest and most respected group of adventurers in the kingdom. Recognizing his hidden potential, they decide to take him under their wing and train him to the limit of his abilities. Through a relentless training regimen and facing deadly challenges, the middle-aged man gradually transforms into a formidable warrior. Despite the taunts and skepticism of those who doubt his ability due to his age and lack of experience, he sets out to prove that it is never too late to become a hero.
As the story progresses, it is revealed that the protagonist possesses a unique ability that sets him apart from other adventurers, making him a key piece in the fight against the evil forces threatening the kingdom. Alongside his teammates, he embarks on epic missions, forges unexpected alliances, and uncovers hidden secrets about the world and his own past. On his journey, he not only faces monsters and formidable enemies but also must overcome his own insecurities and learn the true meaning of strength and courage.
Without a doubt, a small twist on the usual “isekai” genre, and certainly a title to keep in mind for the coming months.
