The news has been released on the official site of “Tower of God“, the anime adapted from the webtoon written and illustrated by SIU. The team responsible for the project has published a new promotional video for its second season, which confirms that its premiere is scheduled for this coming July 7th in Japan, and it features a snippet of the opening theme titled “RISE UP“, performed by NiziU. Let’s remember that not long ago, there was a leak that had already assured that this second season would be two parts long, meaning two semesters of continuous airing. Although there is still no confirmation on this specific detail, it makes sense to think that it will adapt the “Return of the Prince Arc” and the “Battle of the Factory Arc“, which occur several years after the beginning of the story.
SIU has been publishing the webtoon “Tower of God” through the Naver Webtoon service since 2010. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Telecom Animation Film, under the direction of Takashi Sano and scripts written by Erika Yoshida, which premiered in April 2020. The original work has undergone multiple suspensions due to the author’s constant physical exhaustion.

- Erika Yoshida (Bocchi the Rock!, Namu Amida Butsu!: Rendai UTENA, Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare) returns to take charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
- Miho Tanino (Tsukumogami Kashimasu), Seigo Kitazawa (Suzume no Tojimari, Kidou Senshi Gundam: Cucuruz Doan no Shima) and Isamitsu Kashima are in charge of character design and animation direction.
- Kevin Penkin (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Made in Abyss) returns to take charge of the soundtrack composition.
Synopsis
“Tower of God” is a manhwa series that follows the story of Twenty-Fifth Bam, a young man who has lived his entire life in total isolation until he meets Rachel, the only person who has been his friend and window to the outside world. Bam becomes an “Irregular“, a person who was not chosen by the Tower but nonetheless manages to open its doors. This fact is notable since “Irregulars” tend to be powerful and disruptive within the structure of the Tower.
The Tower is a mysterious and vast place that summons people called “Regulars” with the promise of granting their deepest desires if they reach the top. These desires can include wealth, fame, power, or something that surpasses them all. Each floor of the Tower presents unique challenges and tests that candidates must overcome. As Bam follows Rachel, who enters the Tower to fulfill her own dreams, he encounters various characters and challenges that test his abilities and determination.
Throughout his journey, Bam discovers that the Tower is not only a place of physical trials but also an environment where complex power dynamics and conspiracies are played out. “Irregulars” like Bam are often viewed with fear and suspicion because of their potential to disrupt the status quo of the Tower. These individuals often possess unique abilities with Shinsu, the mystical element that permeates the Tower, allowing them to perform feats beyond the normal restrictions imposed on other inhabitants of the Tower.
“Tower of God” has everything it takes to capture our attention, as we have already been able to verify during its first season, and although some time has passed, we are surely more than willing to let ourselves be captivated again by its characters, don’t you agree?
