March 10, 2024

On the official website of the anime adapted from the manga written and illustrated by Eku Takeshima, “Whisper Me a Love Song” (“Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau“), a new promotional image for the project has been revealed. As the press release transmitted, the new premiere date scheduled for April 13 in Japan has been confirmed. The opening and closing themes for the project have also been announced: the opening theme will be called “Follow Your Arrows,” and will be performed by the band SSGIRLS, with Kana Sasakura (the voice with which Yori Asanagi sings) as the vocalist. On the other hand, the closing theme will be titled “Gifty,” and will be in charge of Hana Shimano.

Originally, this project was scheduled to premiere in the Winter 2024 season in Japan (January – March), but, without notice or explanation of the reasons, the production made changes, both in schedule and staff. Synopsis of “Whisper Me a Love Song”

Whisper Me a Love Song” is a story of love and confusion that follows Yori Asanagi, a first-year high school student, and Himari Kino, a second-year student. It all begins at the school’s welcome ceremony, where Himari, a member of the band, performs a song that goes straight to Yori‘s heart. After the show, Yori meets Himari and, in a burst of emotion, confesses that she has fallen in love with her at first sight. Himari, surprised but delighted, accepts the confession and admits that she also feels a special connection.

As their relationship develops, it becomes evident that there is a fundamental misunderstanding between them. Yori understands love in a romantic and passionate way, while Himari interprets it as a deep affection and admiration, similar to what one would feel for a mentor or role model. This misunderstanding creates a series of awkward and confusing situations, as each interprets and responds to the other’s gestures and words differently.

Throughout the series, we see how Yori and Himari navigate the ups and downs of their relationship, trying to understand each other’s true feelings and what love means to each of them. The story explores themes of identity, self-awareness, and the complexity of human relationships, all framed in the sweet and sometimes awkward context of a first love in adolescence.

Surely many of us enjoy a good romantic story, and, at least in my case, even more so if it brings with it a plot that delicately mixes the importance and depth of music in people’s hearts. Without a doubt, a title that I will keep in my agenda, and what about you? Leave me your opinion in the comments about this new proposal that is just around the corner. You know, I’ll be reading! 🙂
