“Wistoria: Wand & Sword” May Have a 2nd Season

July 25, 2024

According to the information that was recently leaked, the anime adaptation of the manga written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Toshi Aoi, “Wistoria: Wand and Sword” (“Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria“), may have a second season. Although the leak does not reveal details about a release date, it made clear that it is not yet in production, as is the case with other leaks.

On the downside, this could represent bad news for fans of “Black Clover,” as this project is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara. In fact, in a recent interview, producer Katsuki Aoyama made it clear that “Wistoria: Wand and Sword” has “the best production team ever assembled,” which suggests it is a candidate for one of the best series of the season.

Fujino Omori, who is also the author of the “DanMachi: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” franchise, began publishing the manga through Kodansha‘s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in December 2020, where it is still being published. As for the anime adaptation, it has been airing since last July 7th and it has not yet been officially listed how many episodes it will have. In fact, it is currently on a one-week hiatus supposedly due to the opening of the Olympics, which will take its place on television next week.

Production Team

  • Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover, Chainsaw Man, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou) is in charge of directing the anime at studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures, and he is also in charge of writing and overseeing the scripts.
  • Sayaka Ono (Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo, Sacred Seven, BASTARD!!: Ankoku no Hakaishin (ONA)) handles character design and animation direction, while Raita Sunaga, Yoshirou Harada, and Ryou Akizuki are in charge of monster design.
  • Yuuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Death Parade, Haikyuu!!) is responsible for the soundtrack composition.

Synopsis

Wistoria: Wand and Sword” tells the story of Will Serfort, a young man with a peculiar dream: to become a Magia Vander, a powerful magician who reigns from the top of the Wizards’ Tower. However, despite his high aspirations, Will faces a significant obstacle: his complete inability to use magic. This limitation places him in a challenging position within the Regarden magic academy, where he is forced to rely exclusively on his sword skills to confront monsters in dungeons and earn academic credits.

The plot unfolds in an environment where Will, despite being despised for his lack of magical abilities, discovers that the seemingly ordinary saber he possesses could be the key to unlocking his true potential. This element introduces an intriguing twist to his journey, as Will must prove his worth in a world that deeply values magic above all. Throughout his education, he faces challenges from both monsters and authoritative figures, such as a professor who harasses him due to his magical ineptitude, testing his sword skills in critical situations.

As Will progresses in his education and overcomes various trials, his story not only explores his personal growth and skill development but also broader themes such as friendship, loyalty, and courage. Through his interactions with other students and teachers, some of whom see his potential beyond magic, Will begins to carve his own path, challenging established norms and seeking a place in a world that initially seemed to have rejected him due to his deficiencies.

As on other occasions, all we can do is wait for new updates that provide us with official production information and dates. And in the meantime, we invite you to check out the comments, and leave us your kind opinion about this news, because, as you know, we’ll be reading! 😉
